It’s been a long summer watching training camps and preseason games that have been just a tease of the glory of football season. This weekend it is finally coming to an end as each of the 32 professional teams return to the field, ready to fight with full force for their fans. Here are the highlights for a few of our favorite teams going into Week 1:

New Orleans Saints

The Saints are the NFL’s favorite for the first week of the season. With a fully stacked offense and powerful defense, the Saints are a top organization in the NFC. Not only are they expected to hold down their home turf this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but are favored with the largest point spread of any Week 1 game.

Minnesota Vikings

Joining the Vikings this season comes with pressure, and this pressure is almost all condensed to the team’s quarterback. After a great 2017 season that ended just short of earning a spot in the Superbowl, the Vikings went into offseason searching for the missing link that could propel them to the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They believe they found this link in quarterback Kirk Cousins who since March earlier this year has had a mindset of winning. Fans are excited to see Cousins in full game mode, hopefully leading the Vikings to a victorious season.

The Vikings are staying home for week 1 where fans will have the opportunity to fill up U.S. Back Stadium to watch Cousins’ Viking debut in person.

New York Jets

Sam Darnold is a new hope of the New York Jets after a less than perfect 2017 season. 2018 has been referred to as the season of Sam after 21-year-old old, 3rd round draft pick earned his title as starting quarterback. Darnold is also the youngest quarterback in NFL history to ever start in this position in the first week.

The team will be hitting the road for their first official game where they will face off against the Detriot Lions on Monday, September 10th.

New York Giants

The New York Giants also have an exceptional rookie to debut this season: Saquon Barkley. The former Penn State running back has already swooned fans throughout his somewhat limited preseason and this weekend will be the first step in winning their hearts.

This Sunday, September 9 the Giants will be playing the Jacksonville Jaguars at Metlife Stadium.
