As summer months draw nearer, so too do the threat of annual water shortages and droughts and water restrictions. With temperatures rising it is important to be even more cognizant of your individual water usage.
The use of artificial grass helps save an estimated 3-6 million gallons of water each year. Each square foot of natural grass replaced with synthetic turf is estimated to save 55 gallons of water each year (2,200 liters saved per square meter). By minimizing the amount of water necessary to maintain athletic fields, home lawns, and commercial/municipal spaces, synthetic turf helps maximize land and resource usage. This becomes more and more important as the global supply of healthy and affordable water continues to diminish.
Act Global is committed to the preservation and protection of the planet through encouraging smart solutions to water utilization. In addition to offering a zero-water solution for natural grass, Act Global’s artificial grass is highly UV protected so that the fibers can withstand even the hottest climates. Act Global offers an array of turf systems that are environmentally-friendly, non-toxic, and can endure many years of use and play.

Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School is a private Pre K-12 college preparatory academy in Tampa Bay area and ranked as one of the most respected independent, college preparatory schools in the nation. Saint Stephen’s recognizes that creating an environment that fosters meaningful, well-rounded learning includes opportunities to participate and compete on athletic teams. At Saint Stephen’s more than 75% of middle school and high school students play on at least one of the 48 available sports teams.
Until 2013 Saint Stephen’s did not have an on-site athletic complex with the capability to host games. This forced players, their friends and families, and competitors to drive 5-miles to Palma Sola Park for games. It was that year that the school opened Moore Athletic Complex at Turner Fields, home to the school’s football, soccer, and lacrosse teams. Athletic director Carlos Boothby commented that the school thoroughly researched synthetic turf before selecting the blended system from Act Global. Chosen for durability, safety, and the ability to accommodate multiple types of sports teams, the Act Global Xtreme Turf surface was installed in the brand-new stadium in 2013.
As soon as the field opened players could tell a difference in the playability and performance of the Act Global artificial grass.
“You can really fly around out there,” said then-junior tailback Luc Goeders. “It’s like being on roller skates.”
Kicker Bradley Beazant added, “knowing that you’re going to have perfect footing as you approach the ball is huge.”
The Saint Stephen’s Falcon’s football team have won the 2016 and 2017 state championships. The girls’ lacrosse team has won the district championship for both 2016 and 2017 as well.
