Since the club’s start in 1988, it has grown from French National 3 (Division 4) competition to Division 1-level play. The Cougars are also the largest French baseball club and encompass 255 licensees. The Cougars’ 2018 season officially kicked off earlier this month with a doubleheader on April 1st. The club started the season by winning both matches, setting the tone for its first official season in D1 play.
In 2017 the club upgraded its facility to continue to improve the resources it has available to develop better athletes. Of these upgrades were the installation of a world-class artificial grass field from Act Global. Made for speed and precision, Act Global’s baseball turf is engineered for consistent play to remove bad hops, high drainage, extreme durability and long-term inlaid markings. Because of this, the Cougars now have a synthetic turf system that will allow each of the eight teams to perform exceptionally.
On October 8th, 2017 the team hosted an inauguration of the new facility in Montigny le Bretonneux, Paris, France.

The 2018 Grass Yarn & Tufters Forum wrapped up yesterday in Barcelona, Spain. Act Global CEO John Baize joined industry leaders from around the world to participate in a forward-thinking dialogue of technical and commercial developments in the artificial grass and synthetic turf supply-chain. Each year this global conference offers diverse perspectives on some of the most critical topics facing the industry including key issues going on in the rest of the world, the latest technological advancements, trends for future developments, and how structural changes to the industry will impact future growth.
One of the most exciting results of AMI 2018 was the announcement to synchronize the world market for synthetic turf.
“Great news coming out of this week’s AMI conference in Barcelona as the Synthetic Turf Council (STC) and The European Synthetic Turf Organisation (ESTO) sign a Mutual Letter of understanding to join forces and approach the market as one global industry association. This collaboration is a great step in the right direction towards the worldwide growth of the industry! #SyntheticTurf #globalleadership”- John Baize, Act Global CEO.
This unifying collaboration has the potential to spread the benefits of synthetic turf and artificial grass to more communities across the world. This will increase access and availability of play and encourage outdoor sports recreation.

Act Global was founded with a mission to be more than just a synthetic turf manufacturer. With the pillars to be more, innovate more, and play more, Act Global is committed to creating the safest artificial grass systems available to protect athletes of all levels from injuries. In every facet of Act Global’s business culture, it has sought to address and service the needs of players with product. The exceptional quality of Act Global turf is a direct result of continuous investments into research and development, alongside benchmark and performance testing.
One area Act Global continues to research is the interaction between player’s footwear and a ground’s surface. Due to differentiation in footwear from sport to sport, changes in vertical deformation, traction, deceleration, and slip resistance within a surface may yield significant differences in safety and performance. Optimizing these factors to engineer balanced synthetic turf systems can reduce some of the most common injuries athletes face on the field. Artificial grass features numerous characteristics that enhance the system overall such as infill particle size, level of compaction, and fiber type, and the most common movements of sports can vary from straight running to slalom, cutting and turning maneuvers, and landing after jumps. These are important factors that directly affect how each Act Global turf system is designed. Act Global aims to use research to make artificial grass act as a piece of protective sports equipment by maximizing the interaction between shoes and surfaces.

The infant-pre k academy located Meriden, Kansas officially opened its new outdoor play center featuring Act Global artificial grass. The surface is extremely durable but will stay soft and lush year-round to encourage outdoor play and activity throughout every season. By making it possible for kids to play more days out of the year and eliminating the possibility of mud and hard, dead patches of grass, Créche Academy’s new synthetic turf expands the possibility of play outside. This aligns with the childcare center’s mission to stimulate growth both mentally and physically within their students. Physical exercise is vital in the healthy development of children, and Créche Academy commits itself to ensuring its students receive adequate play time.
The Act Global synthetic turf installed at Créche Academy is part of a donation project organized by KTX Sports Construction’s Project 340. Créche Academy was selected by KTX Turf to receive a portion of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Superdome turf- a world-class, professional-quality surface.
