Ways you Didn’t Know Artificial Turf Could be Used

Ways you Didn’t Know Artificial Turf Could be Used

Airports are filling their runways and taxiways with synthetic grass.

Erosion and birdstrikes are just a few of the hazards that impact airport runways and taxiways. Artificial turf prevents animals from nesting or burrowing near runways and keeps animals away from planes taking off and landing. Installing AvTurf, Act Global’s aviation turf, can assist in eliminating these hazards while providing a clean, green, and low maintenance surface area.

An artificial turf-natural grass hybrid is on the market.

A hybrid system lets real living grass grow up between the synthetic turf fibers formin a mixture of natural and synthetic blades–a woven backing makes this possible. Act Global offers Xtreme Grass hybrid which reinforces natural grass’ playability properties combined with the durability of synthetic turf. The synthetic turf fibers help stabilize and protect the natural grass to reduce playing damage and divots. The hybrid turf system is excellent for high traffic areas such as soccer goalie boxes.

Pets love synthetic grass too!

Pet’s won’t keep their owners from enjoying a luxurious artificial turf backyard. The soft yet durable fibers are paw-friendly, and distinct infills are manufactured to absorb urine and eliminate any odors–plus easy cleanup and no brown spots! Lastly, you won’t have to use pesticides on your lawn that are harmful to your furry friends.

Artificial turf is a sustainable way to cap landfills.

Current landfill capping systems typically run into issues of erosion and maintenance. With synthetic grass, the risk of erosion is reduced while obtaining a natural look. LiteEarth, produced by Act Global, and Solmax, have combined their expertise to produce the patented LiteEarth Capping System. The monofilament stand up system eliminates the need for infill and reduces the risk of erosion from wind or water.

Turf has no limits!

Synthetic grass can be used in a multitude of ways such as batting cages, art galleries, and even ceilings! At Act Global, we push the limits of our installations with our slogan in mind “Be More”. As a worldwide leader in turf manufacturing, we are always pushing ourselves to be more innovative when it comes to new projects, and are always up for a creative challenge. Every day we challenge ourselves to “Be More”.

West Orange Stark High School First to Have Exclusive New Nolan Ryan Turf

West Orange Stark High School First to Have Exclusive New Nolan Ryan Turf

General Sports Surfaces started construction on the first installation of the NR34 baseball system created by Act Global and Nolan Ryan led RS3

West Orange TX—Dan R. Hooks Stadium home of the Mustangs will be the first school in the world to have the new state of the art baseball system created and manufactured by Act Global and RS3. The base construction began on both the baseball and softball field in mid-August and the turf will be installed late September.

The NR34 system is similar to what is being used for Act Global stadiums and community fields around the world, optimized specifically for baseball. Performance benefits range from shock absorption, impact, ground interaction, traction, stability, bounce, lower infill splash, durability and UV testing, and more.

The field base construction and turf installation is being done under the direction of General Sports Surfaces of Ft. Worth, TX, that recently installed a new Act Global turf system for the West Orange Stark football field.

“It is not often that a company in the synthetic turf industry has the unique opportunity to be the first to do something,” Hector Puentes, CEO of General Sports said.  “The baseball and softball fields being installed by General Sports at West Orange Stark High School will not only be the first Act Global NR34 fields in Texas, they will be the first in the entire nation. We are proud to be associated with Act Global and the Nolan Ryan group (RS3),” Puentes continued.  “Countless hours of research and testing went into the development of this system, which was designed and tested to emulate the playing conditions of perfectly manicured natural grass baseball and softball fields.”

“The custom line of Nolan Ryan & RS3 Turf is first class,” said Cornel Thompson, Athletic Director of West Orange – Cove CISD. “West Orange Stark High School is thrilled to be the first school in Texas with this surface on our baseball and softball fields. I am confident our turf will be outstanding!”

“We’re excited to be partnering with West Orange Stark School and congratulate them on being the first field to bear the NR34 name,” said Ryan Sanders Baseball CEO Reese Ryan.  “We’re committed to bring the game of baseball to as many people as possible, while keeping player safety at the forefront, and we feel very confident in this product.”

Act Global Teams up with the Homeless World Cup

Act Global Teams up with the Homeless World Cup

For the fifth consecutive year, Act Global has collaborated with the Homeless World Cup to be their official synthetic turf sponsor. This year’s event took place at the heart of the Welsh capital, Cardiff, from July 27-Aug 3, and brought together more than 500 players representing over 50 countries.

The Homeless World Cup is an annual tournament hosted by the Homeless World Cup Foundation founded in 2003. The foundation uses football to inspire people who suffer from homelessness and help improve their lives.

A survey conducted by the Homeless World Cup Foundation revealed that 96% of people agreed football is a good way to bring people together. Along with inspiring this marginalized group of people, the foundation wants to destigmatize the perception of homelessness. The tournament attracts crowds of more than 80,000 and millions more watching online.

A recent study on global homelessness estimated 100 million worldwide are homeless and as many as 1.6 billion people lacked suitable housing. 94% of participants of the tournament in the past said that the Homeless World Cup positively impacted their life.

Act Global was founded in 2004 on a social and technical culture dedicated to serving the safety and performance needs of players while supporting communities across the globe. The Homeless World Cup and Act Global united on love for sports and a shared goal of helping the community.

Act Global is so excited to have brough 3 synthetic turf fields to the event and could not be more proud of the men and women who participated all week long.
