Top Golf is a sports entertainment community operating in 33 venues worldwide. TopGolf games are set up so that players aim for 11 targets within the fairway, with points awarded for accuracy. The microchipped balls give instant feedback for each of the 9 official games. The venues also feature climate-controlled hitting bays, a full restaurant menu of food and beverages, and a sports bar/lounge.
Before LiteEarth Installation
Overland Park’s location in Kansas faced a unique problem with their natural grass that was leading to daily operational challenges. On the right side of the “fairway”, there is an incline that leads up to the guarding nets. This incline was causing an inability for grass to be able to grow, leading to large patches of mud that would catch and hold onto any of the golf balls shot in the area. Additionally, from the heavy rain the area experiences, the grass that was able to grow required constant maintenance and caused operations to shut down while the area was mowed. The difficulty in ball retrieval, as well as the hassle of continuous upkeep, caused TopGolf to seek a solution: LiteEarth.
LiteEarth is an advanced artificial grass geomembrane liner for long-term environmental closure. The patented synthetic turf system is an environmentally responsible system that eliminates seeding, fertilizers, pesticides, and mower exhaust. The impermeability of the liner and absence of slope failure ensures that heavy rains will run down TopGolf’s incline and into proper drainage locations. In comparison to natural grass which requires consistent maintenance, LiteEarth requires only annual light brushing. This means that TopGolf can stay open more hours and more days out of the year while sustaining an attractive and natural looking ground cover. Finally, the high puncture resistance of LiteEarth will assure that even the strongest of drives will not rip or tear into the turf’s liner.
Work on TopGolf’s LiteEarth installation should conclude early next week.

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team will take on the Korea Republic Women’s National Football team tonight at 7:00 PM at the SMG managed Mercedes Benz Superdome. Tonight’s match is one of only four games left in the U.S. Women’s Team’s 2017 schedule, the first of a doubleheader of friendlies against the Korea Republic. These two teams have not met since 2015 which resulted in a 0-0 draw.
The United States Women’s Soccer Team is a three-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner and the most successful team in international women’s soccer. The team currently occupies the number one position in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, a position it has held almost continuously since March 2008.
In tonight’s match at the Superdome, the U.S. Women’s team will test the durability and playability of the recently installed Act Global synthetic turf. The artificial grass is engineered and tested to offer a superior playing surface for the players, creating a surface that is fast under the foot and provide sufficient firmness to limit fatigue injuries to the lower extremities of the player’s body. The synthetic turf system also provides proper Rotational Resistance (traction) to ensure foot stability and to enable quick release of the shoes during rotation and traction movements. These specifically engineered components of the turf will help protect individual players so that the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team can perform their best tonight.
Good luck to the United States Women’s team tonight!

Since 1983, The Woodlands Rugby Club has been a catalyst committed to growing rugby in the North Houston area. The founders John Cherrybone, Dave Jenkins and Steve Box opened the club after settling in The Woodlands to inspire character growth and spread their love of the game by welcoming beginners alongside returning players. In the 30+ years since the club has gained recognition as a Division II National Champion in 2001 as well as become a pillar of community service within the city. The Woodlands Rugby Club works with 3 local philanthropic groups including Interfaith, Montgomery County Women’s Center, and the neighborhood trail clean up.
Rugby is an all year, all weather sport. Pre-season for the Woodlands Rugby Club took place in September, with the normal season’s game dates spanning from November to the end of April. Championship tournament dates can push the season well into May.
With this demanding schedule and little off-season recovery time, the safety of rugby players is vital. The Woodlands Rugby Club hosts practices as well as matches at the Alden Bridge Sports Park, which was upgraded to an all-weather synthetic turf system in 2013. Act Global’s Xtreme Turf was selected based off of its proven durability, safety, and performance. This synthetic turf was designed for player safety and comfort with quicker recovery from fatigue, ideal balance of shock absorption and vertical deformation, and high yarn density for comfort and protection on impact. Even in the most hazardous of scrums, Xtreme Turf helps players play rough and tackle safely. Because teams are utilizing the fields at this public park every day, The Woodlands needed a surface that could withstand heavy use while maintaining its integrity. Xtreme turf artificial grass is developed with maximum UV inhibitors to withstand heavy use and intense climatic conditions. This ensures that fibers last longer and perform better.
Good luck to the Woodlands Rugby Club on the 2017-2018 season!
