With nine world-class synthetic turf fields built in 2013, and ten already confirmed in 2014, the Act Global and Carpell Surfaces partnership is driving the demand for professional FIFA Quality playing surfaces in Canada.

Carpell Surfaces is focused on driving the standard for the highest quality synthetic turf systems in Canada. The company completed a total of nine full-size artificial turf fields in 2013, eight of which were FIFA tested and achieved passing results.

The artificial turf surfaces were a mix of soccer, rugby, lacrosse and multipurpose, expertly built to the highest quality standards to meet the guidelines set forth by FIFA and local sporting authorities. Carpell partners with leading synthetic turf manufacturer Act Global to offer the most advanced technology in artificial sports turf. As a FIFA Preferred Producer for Football Turf, Act Global’s synthetic turf products are designed to meet top natural grass benchmarks per FIFA’s quality guidelines.

While all synthetic turf provides longer playing hours, less maintenance and water savings, the differentiating factor is in the performance and safety features of FIFA quality turf. To achieve FIFA Certification, the manufactured product and finished installations are third-party tested for factors such as ball behavior, shock absorption, abrasion, traction, foot stability, UV weathering, tuft bind, durability and more.

“Carpell Surfaces has an excellent reputation for installing state-of-the-art, safe and high performing sporting surfaces,” said John Baize, managing director at Act Global. “We are proud to partner with the professionals at Carpell and look forward to our continued success for many years to come.”

The companies already have ten artificial turf fields confirmed for 2014, featuring a mix of soccer, football, lacrosse, rugby and multipurpose indoor synthetic turf.

A $6 million renovation will breathe new life into the diamond where Babe Ruth once hit his 500th home run.

While the historic League Park in Cleveland, Ohio has for years been desolate, the restored space will feature many enhancements, including a top quality synthetic turf baseball diamond built by ProGrass.

League Park first opened in 1891, and has been home to many historic events,  including Babe Ruth’s 500th home run, the Cleveland Indians first World Series win, and the final game of Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak. While the park has a colorful history, the baseball field has for years been unused.

The restoration will bear some resemblance to the park’s former self, while adding modern additions–from the new visitors center, to the century-old ticket house to large banners depicting the diamond’s historic players. The entire diamond will be covered in more than 144,000 square feet of synthetic turf, including the infield, base paths and pitcher’s mound. The outfield and infield will use green turf, while the infield features shorter brick-colored artificial turf to resemble dirt areas. The park is estimated to open late July and will be a major addition to the area’s high school and community baseball leagues.
