FIFA Goal Project at Brazil National Training Center, Granja Comary
Austin, TX, March 19, 2013
With the recent installation of a FIFA Recommended Two Star synthetic turf pitch from Act Global, the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) has one of the top playing surfaces in the world. The FIFA Two Star mark indicates a field which is assured to meet the highest international performance and quality standards for elite level football.
Bordered by lofty mountains, and situated at an elevation of 871 meters outside Rio de Janeiro, the site of the CBF Training Center, also named Granja Comary, is picturesque. The new synthetic turf pitch was installed as part of a FIFA Goal Project, which enables member associations to fulfill developments which advance football in their countries. Act Global was selected because of their high-quality artificial turf and commitment to FIFA international performance standards.
FIFA Recommended Two Star pitches meet the most stringent requirements for top-class international sport, tailored towards the specific needs of elite football. To be awarded this mark, pitches are required to undergo two phases of rigorous laboratory and field testing conducted by FIFA-accredited institutes. Sports Labs performed field testing at the training center, for deformation, shock absorption, energy restitution, ball roll, ball rebound, traction, torsion and aesthetics. The tests were run multiple times on various surface points to ensure precise results. The field was determined to meet the top professional quality and performance standards to earn FIFA Two Star certification.
The original construction of the CBF Training Center was the first Goal Project implemented in Brazil, completed in 2005, to help elevate football education and training in this top football nation. The famous Brazilian national football team is the only national team to have played in every FIFA World Cup, and with five World Cup victories, they currently hold the title for most wins. In 2014, Brazil will also host the FIFA World Cup and Granja Comary will be the site of preparation for World Cup football players.
As part of the CBF International Programs, youth, college and professional players from around the world can access this world-class facility. CBF International offers team travel packages, coaching education, individual training, football camps, goalkeeper programs, facility tours and more.
Over the last seven years, Act Global has been awarded a total of 15 FIFA Goal Projects in Africa, Asia and South America.

To maximize the appearance, performance and longevity of your synthetic turf surface, maintenance is essential.
To provide direction on this important issue, the Synthetic Turf Council has released new, improved guidelines that meet the requirements of today’s artificial turf systems. The STC states four key areas that drive the need for objective synthetic turf maintenance guidelines:
1. Maximize the appearance and longevity of your synthetic turf—Improperly maintained fields will degrade faster and compromise playing conditions.
2. Ensure maximum performance and playability—Through a combination of regular maintenance and performance testing, it is possible to track the synthetic sports field’s performance and anticipate the end of its useful life.
3. Address field usage topics and special circumstances—Factors such as age, hours of use, type of usage, climate, contamination and other situations impact the performance of the synthetic turf.
4. Meet your field’s warranty requirements—While a maintenance regimen can support the requirements of a warranty, the details of a maintenance plan should be carefully reviewed with the field builder to assure that it complies with and does not void any provisions of the warranty.

Ongoing routine maintenance can include keeping the playing surface free of debris, maintaining proper infill levels, and brushing the turf. More specialized maintenance may include decompaction, seam repairs and cleaning of the infill. These comprehensive guidelines discuss all aspects of maintenance from proper cleaning materials, to equipment and techniques, so you can keep your field in top performing condition.
You can follow the link to download your own copy of the “STC Guidelines for Maintenance of Infilled Synthetic Turf Sports Fields”.

Austin, Texas USA (January 8, 2013) — Act Global Sports continues to promote superior synthetic turf sports surfaces throughout the world, most recently achieving two FIFA certified installations in Colombia.
The fields are a result of quality manufacturing of Act Global and skilled installation work of Colombian partner Pedro Sarmiento and his team. The pitches were installed at the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín and at Sede Recreacional Florida Blanca in Bucaramanga. The fields received a two and one star certification, respectively. Both feature Act Global’s Xtreme Turf for community and professional sports use.
“We are honored to work with a trusted and talented partner that can help bring these FIFA certified fields to Colombia,” said John Baize, managing director of Act Global Sports. “We truly value the work of Pedro and his team, as more players can enjoy the long-term value of quality products and professional installations.”
The field at Universidad de Antioquia is part of one of the biggest and most important universities in Colombia. It will host local league competition matches and the university’s regional tournament, as well as training grounds for professional teams. The field is part of a larger sports facility investment by the university, which will include basketball, handball, futsal, volleyball, martial arts, gymnastics and more. Act Global’s partner will install all these surfaces, making it one of the most complete sport references in Colombia featuring the Xtreme Turf FIFA certified field.
Sede Recreacional Florida Blanca is part of the social services recreational and sport complex of Santander State. The field was funded by Comfenalco Santander, a retirement plan administrator in Colombia, to stimulate sport activities amongst its members. The field will be used by members and several amateur clubs, as well as for hosting local league matches. This complex is one of only two complexes of this kind to have a full size artificial turf field. The new pitch replaces an old natural grass, and is beside a previously installed Xtreme Turf field.
FIFA testing on both fields was performed by Labosport, and results showed excellent permeability, shock absorption and stability. As a FIFA Preferred Producer for Football Turf, Act Global’s products are engineered to meet the highest quality and performance standards. The company’s Xtreme Turf has been installed in many top-performing professional stadiums around the world.
