Act Global works with leading Canadian partner to provide synthetic turf to community boys’ home.
Austin, TX- For the boys residing within the Le Voilier community of Saint-Hyacinthe, summer just got a little more fun. A soccer field made of artificial grass, collaboratively donated and installed by Carpell, means endless hours of play for these remarkable kids.
Opening its doors in 2011, Le Centre Voilier is a residential rehabilitation unit (group home) for boys aged 10 to 13 years old. The mission of Le Voilier is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for children and youths for whom it is believed that their security or development may be endangered. Le Voilier is as close as possible to a home and family environment that promote reintegration into society. The Centre also works in close collaboration with teachers and guidance counselors at the local high school to provide the boys with extra support.
“What a magnificent and generous project. Knowing that the boys would enjoy their summer and focus on sports and fun instead of problems touches directly to my heart. On behalf of the boys and myself, our great thanks to Carpell Surfaces” -Suzie Roy, Director, Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie / Youth Centre Foundation.
Act Global manufactured and partnered with Carpell Surfaces to provide the top quality soccer pitch for Le Centre Voilier. Working in cooperation with Go-Élan and GroupeKima, the teams expertly installed the latest turf technology playing field, perfect for child-size recreation. The field was completed May 10th, and immediately the boys were out playing on it.
“It is important for Carpell Surfaces to give back to those in need and these kids are our future! It’s great to see the kids let off steam and channel their energy in to something positive like a soccer game. The Voilier project has been both a pleasure and a privilege for Carpell Surfaces. A big thanks goes to our team of installers, to our partner Act Global, to Go-Elan and GroupeKima for their contributions. Everyone pitched in! ” -Paul Caron, Carpell Surfaces.
Act Global recognizes the positive social impact of sports and was excited to participate in helping create a field for these boys. “We were honored to be given the opportunity to work with our friends at Carpell on this project. These kids are dealing with a lot of challenges in life. We just want these kids to take a break and just be kids” -John Baize, Act Global.
Xtreme Turf, the synthetic turf used for the field, offers a durable and versatile solution that will require little maintenance. This is the same quality range of turf that was used just 30 miles away in the Montreal Olympic Stadium. In the southwestern region of Québec, durability is especially important as the cold temperatures can easily stunt normal grass growth for almost half of the year. The Xtreme Turf line of synthetic turf solves this problem- meaning the children can play year round, for countless hours and no down time on a visually enticing pitch.
