FIFA, the world’s governing body of soccer, uses natural grass benchmarks in areas including foot stability, traction, and ball interaction to create its synthetic turf standards. These benchmarks are part of the FIFA Quality Concept, which have led to safer, better performing fields.
As buyers seek similar benchmarks for American football and baseball, Act Global and testing institute Labosport put the FIFA Quality Concept up against top natural grass fields at New York Yankees spring training facility and Texas A&M. Field tests were performed to measure shock absorption, vertical deformation (foot stability), rotational resistance (traction), energy restitution (fatigue indicator) and various ball-to-surface interactions.
The study confirmed that the parameters set by the FIFA Quality Concept fall within the test results at both facilities. Act Global is the first company to obtain scientific data comparing natural grass for soccer, American football and baseball fields with FIFA and Synthetic Turf Council guidelines.
As a FIFA Preferred Producer, Act Global’s products meet the FIFA QUALITY guidelines for safety, performance and durability. By using FIFA Quality synthetic turf, players receive a top playing surface proven to perform to the best natural grass benchmarks for multiple sports.
