  • NRG Stadium is a total of 1.9 million square feet — the synthetic turf field itself is 97,205 square feet or 2.23 acres.
  • The stadium was the first facility in the NFL to have a retractable roof.
  • The size of the retractable roof opening is 500′ x 385′ and it takes 7 minutes to open.
  • There are a total of 197 suites inside the stadium.
  • The field will have almost 1.5 billion blades of synthetic turf and over 7,800 miles of synthetic grass yarns were required to complete the project.
  • Seating capacity at NRG Stadium is 72,220 for sporting events and 80,000 for concerts.
  • NRG Stadium hit its record attendance number – 80,020 – at The Cowboy Rides Away tour, put on by the King of Country George Strait.
  • Over 1550 HDTVs adorn the walls of the stadium.
  • Super Bowl LI is projected to generate upward of $500 million in revenue for the city of Houston.
  • NRG Stadium is also home to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, one of the world’s largest live entertainment and livestock exhibitions. A total of 2,506,238 people passed through its doors for the 2013 HLSR.
