Nestled in Northern Ireland is a secondary school with over 200 years of experience guiding passionate students to fulfilling, well-rounded lives. Cookstown High School has adopted a structure of encouragement and positive influence to nurture its learners, resulting in highly competent and talented individuals that are eager to get involved within their communities. Part of becoming involved at school means joining extracurricular sports teams.
Hockey is the main sport at Cookstown High School for both men and women. Both teams have been highly successful, but the women’s team is a special standout. Encompassing over 80 girls spanning all grade levels, the Cookstown women’s hockey team train and compete 7 months out of the year, or almost the entire school year.
Not only does Cookstown provide exceptional resources and support to its students academically, but athletically as well. The school currently has an internationally-accredited, world-class synthetic turf hockey field that is certified by FIH for national, regional, and club play. The sand-dressed Act Global artificial grass field is trusted around the world for professional play and by Cookstown High School for consistency and safety. The hockey pitch has proven to be a vital asset in protecting players from fatigue-related injuries while remaining attractive. The stunning blue-toned field lays beautiful against the school’s lush green landscape, enhancing the aesthetics of the campus grounds.
Practice for the hockey teams commenced in September and will continue on throughout March.
Good luck to each of the team on their 2018-2019 season!
