It’s officially the first day of summer 2017 and our headquarters office in Austin, Texas is already facing temperatures in the triple digits! With the sun shining bright and the heat dialing up, it’s more important than ever to be cognitive of your water usage at home.
According to two studies conducted by the American Water Works Association released in 1999 and 2011, water use by single-family residential homes are on the rise- outdoor use especially. In the study released in 1999, an average annual 84,000 gallons per household were used for outdoor purposes. In 2011, it rose to 90,300 gallons. This is over a 7% increase, even after the introduction of high efficiency homes in 2001. Water use for outdoor applications is significantly higher in the summer months then the rest of the year, averaging 729 gallons per day, per household. This is equal to showering for 347 minutes. Of this number, 80%-90% of outdoor water use is dedicated to lawns, gardens, and plants (Hermitte & Mace, 2012).
At Act Global, we worked to engineer a solution to engineer a solution to this excessive water usage. We believe in the cultivation of a smarter, greener planet-starting at the home. Our Turfscape line is a high quality, natural-looking artificial grass that is both durable in all weather conditions and versatile in all applications. Each square foot of regular grass that is replaced with Turfscape saves 55 gallons of water per year- all without the hassle of seasonal maintenance.
So enjoy your summer while helping to make a positive impact on this planet!

Normally a concrete sidewalk, the perimeter of Fox News is converted to an attractive and functional event space with Act Global synthetic grass.
Artificial grass can provide attractive, low-maintenance and functional spaces ideal for community events, concerts and more.
As of the end of 2014, 40-45 million square feet of synthetic grass for landscape has been installed in the United States, according to the Synthetic Turf Council. It is a fast growing segment of the artificial turf market, as more homeowners, businesses and municipalities realize its many advantages.
Event venues seeking an inviting, green, eco-friendly surface to impress their guests should consider artificial turf as an ideal solution. Artificial grass can be used around commercial buildings, concert venues, community events, amphitheaters, carnivals, festivals, amusement parks, and much more to create a welcoming space and atmosphere. The eco-friendly solution requires minimal resources and maintenance, while providing a clean, soft, aesthetically pleasing surface which is highly durable in all weather conditions.
Why is artificial turf ideal for event spaces?
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
As consumers continue to seek environmentally-responsible solutions, many have recognized synthetic turf as an attractive option. Environmental advantages of synthetic grass include saving water, preventing pesticide use and reducing maintenance pollution. Many hot climates in particular are facing drought conditions right now, and have water restrictions in place. Every square foot of natural grass replaced with artificial turf can save 55 gallons of water per year.
AESTHETICALLY PLEASING
High-quality artificial grass truly lends the appearance and feel of natural grass. It provides a bright, welcoming impression and can easily be used in combination with other natural or artificial landscaping to create unique, aesthetically pleasing event spaces. In fact, Act Global’s Xtreme Lawn has been featured on Fox & Friends Morning Show and enjoyed by concert-goers at Fox’s Summer Concert Series!
LOW MAINTENANCE
Many people prefer soft surfaces such as grass; however, the hassle of maintaining natural landscaping in event spaces can be quite difficult. Artificial turf provides an attractive, soft surface, while eliminating the added bother of mowing, and the environmental burden of fertilizers, pesticides and watering.
COST EFFECTIVE
Synthetic grass shrinks overall operating and maintenance expenditures by saving water, and reducing maintenance and the associated labor costs.
VERSATILE
The options are virtually endless when using artificial turf in event spaces. Much easier to install and maintain than natural grass, synthetic turf can be cut to fit any size or shape installation, without the need to seed, sod, water or mow. Artificial turf can be used around commercial buildings, concert venues, community events, carnivals, festivals, amusement parks, and much more, and can be used both indoors and outdoors. It can be installed as a permanent or semi-permanent installation to provide versatility for future use.
DURABLE
Artificial grass is extremely crowd-friendly, and can withstand heavy foot traffic and continued use. Act Global Xtreme Lawn is highly UV protected to maintain durability and color fastness even in hot climates under heavy sun exposure.
CLEAN and GREEN
Artificial turf keeps event spaces clean and green, without the mess of dirt, mud, or grass damage in the event of rain or heavy foot traffic. It is non-toxic, allergen free and helps deter insects and other pests.
Today’s advanced synthetic grass provides high-quality, eco-friendly solutions for a variety of landscape applications. For more information on Act Global synthetic grass, visit this post on Why to Choose Xtreme Lawn or email info@actglobal.com with specific questions.
