Field Hockey is a team sport that has been played since the Middle Ages in parts of Europe and has roots in a similar game played in Ancient Greece as early as 510 BC.  The sport continues to be extremely popular in international countries and brings the world together in competition at the Olympic Games, World Cup, World League, Champions Trophy and Junior World Cup.

In the United states, field hockey is regionally centralized to the Northeasters states, extending from Massachusetts down to Virginia.  It is also female dominated and mainly played throughout high school and college aged students.

BanbridgeHS-Haffey-FIH-18mmThe sport is extremely intricate in rules and game play, which has led to its slow-but-steady growth throughout the US.  The reason that field hockey less ubiquitous in the American sports landscape is that the sport’s complexity can make it difficult to learn when compared with simpler field sports such as soccer.  Once understood, it is a high paced sport full of strategy.

Efforts by USA Field Hockey are to continue to grow the game by creating a stronger presence of the sport.  The governing body is utilizing social media platforms to reach athletes across the country, as well as hosting events and workshops for hands-on skill growth.

As an FIH preferred supplier of synthetic turf, Act Global is committed to the highest industry standards to grow and sustain the game of hockey.  We engineer high performing, FIH-approved turf systems, suitable for all levels of play, from elite to developmental hockey.  We support USA Field Hockey’s efforts to grow the game and spread the joy of play.

The Netherlands Hockey Club Selects Act Global Synthetic Turf for it’s Game Pitch

20882720_1678130715540220_3918702243486846800_nHCQZ (Hockey Club Quick-ZOW) or QZ is a hockey club from The Netherlands that has its home in the southwest  region of Nijmegen at Staddijk Sports Park. The club emphasizes an atmosphere of teamwork, involvement, engagement, and solidarity for each of its players, fostering sportsmanlike athletes.  The club was officially founded in 2006 after a long-discussed merger that brought together the Mixed Hockey Club Quick (formerly known as Nijmeegsche Ladies Hockey Club Quick) and MHV ZOW to encompass 650 hickey members.

20915548_1678130718873553_6689560477494556355_nThis summer we had the opportunity to work with our partners at Sallandse United to install our synthetic turf in HCQZ’s wet field.  Our artificial grass is engineered and tested to offer a superior playing surface by offering greater speed and precision.  Our hockey turf gives a flat, fast surface with lower friction, free moving fibers for footing and stick movements, and technical accuracy for consistent ball roll and rebound.  This means that the teams of HCQZ will compete on a professional hockey system that will allow them to play at their best.

The official grand opening of the field for the fall 2017 season will be on September 2nd.

Sports For All: Act Global and Chadha Sports Bring a Synthetic Turf Pitch to New Delhi

Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Gumanhera becomes the first public school in the country to receive an FIH Global Certified Hockey field.

The sports revolution in India is continuing to gather pace and Act Global is proud to be playing an active role in the development of sports infrastructure across the country.  Despite hockey being the national sport of New Delhi, access to top quality wet system fields has always been extremely limited.  Often, only those who could afford a membership to private clubs or schools would have the right to use these types of fields-until now.

Set in a rural village on the outskirts of Delhi, this public school was the pilot for a new project by the Indian Government to invest in top quality hockey facilities in Government schools around the country. The field is an asset not only to the school, but the community as a whole.  Hockey has always been popular in the Gumanhera district, and now the local players can practice on the same surface as found in top clubs in Europe and Asia.  The field is reserved for students during school hours, and then opens up to the public in the evenings- aiding in developing the talent of players and athletes to reach new heights.

The installation of Xtreme Turf NFH13 MF-EL12 at the Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Gumanhera, New Delhi is the first major step towards providing world class Hockey fields that are accessible to the many- not the few.  This initiative by the Indian Government aligned with Act Global’s commitment to inspire health and happiness across the world.  With a dedication to spread the power of play and enhance community spaces, Act Global was excited for the opportunity to craft this pitch for New Delhi.

Field Hockey requires a fast, consistent, non-directional system, and Act Global has delivered such a surface.  Manufactured in the Netherlands and installed by Act Global in partnership with Chadha Sports, the pitch is FIH Global certified field and has set a benchmark for future fields.  A combination of international and local expertise, with selection of the best raw materials and suppliers, helped make this a superior and affordable field.

Chadha Sports and Act Global are proud to have delivered this pilot project and will continue to be partners to the school for many years to come.  We can’t wait to see the athletes that come out of the area.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) welcomes ACT Global Sports as its latest supplier of synthetic turf approved for world level hockey.

To be approved, a turf must be tested by an independent FIH accredited laboratory in this case ISA-Sport in the Netherlands. The tests have shown that ACT Global Xtreme Turf NFH-12 meets the highest level of FIH performance requirements and so can be used for all hockey including top international matches – FIH’s global standard for World Level Events.

Xtreme Turf NFH-12 uses the latest ‘Dual Yarn’ technology of polyethylene and nylon monofilament fibres. This ensures high playability but also brings environmental benefits because, in comparison with some other turfs, less water is required on the surface to achieve excellent playability.

ACT Global has its main research and production facilities in China with head offices located in USA and regional offices in the Netherlands, Cyprus, Hong Kong and South Africa. For more information, please visit www.actglobalsports.com.
