Exeter College is a tertiary college in Exeter, England that provides an array of courses and services to the community for students ages 14 to adulthood.  The college offers an environment in which teaching, learning, and student success are a top priority; at Exeter, success is defined both within and outside the classroom.  These efforts have culminated in a well-rounded student body with excellent exam grades, distinguished sports, music, art, and community achievements, and exemplary training successes.

The sports academy at Exeter College allows athletes to immerse themselves in their respected sport and receive a comprehensive training schedule and detailed training programs to advance their technical, tactical, mental, and physical skills.  The academy offers 13 different sports with some offering varying levels of competition.

Exeter College football just added an immaculate synthetic turf surface to its collection of resources for its athletes.  Verde Recreo Ltd. completed the design and build of the new artificial grass facility that features Act Global’s Xtreme Turf and TLC LED floodlighting from Musco Lighting.  Not only does the field glow bright and beautiful, but the turf also offers substantial safety components for elevated playability and performance.  With a precise balance between shock absorption and deformation, ideal rotational resistance (traction), and consistent and uniform ball-to-surface interactions, Act Global’s synthetic football turf maximizes player safety and comfort to reduce the most common injuries related to fatigue. This is why Act Global football turf has been selected as the surface of choice within top facilities across the world and has earned partnerships with elite professional leagues.

Update:Tortola’s FIFA Goal Field Post Hurricane Season

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0002.JPGThe FIFA Goal project was created in 1999 to offer tailor-made programs to suit individual country needs to advance football within the country with a high quality, fully outfitted field.  In 2015, a FIFA Goal Development project for the British Virgin Islands Football Federation went out to bid.  This was possible through land leased from the local government and support from the surrounding neighborhood.  The project helped create jobs for local laborers, provide a safe place for children to play football, and establish a focal point for the community to gather within the new stadium.

The Caribbean island of Tortola has experienced destructive weather during this hurricane season. Heavy rains in August contributed to mudslides, flooding, and power outages.  In September both Category 5  hurricane Irma and hurricane Maria caused extensive structural devastation throughout the island- “Tortola has lost 95 percent of its buildings, telecommunications capacity, most of its infrastructure and all vehicles”.

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0008.JPGThe FIFA Goal football pitch designed and installed by Act Global also suffered significant damage from the storms.  The project manager for the field recently visited the site to observe and record the destruction produce and to work with FIFA and BVIFA to evaluate the damages.  On site, it was observed that a large quantity of flying debris caused heavy contamination of the infill with glass shards, rocks, plastics, and other sharp objects that pose a serious safety concern.  However, the base work remained intact throughout multiple storms and continued to perform as designed and drain remarkably well.

As the rebuilding and rehabilitation of the island of Tortola continues, Act Global will work to ensure the members of the community have a safe football pitch, free of damage and debris.

Extracurricular activities, sports, in particular, are an important aspect of student life at BGS.  At all ages and abilities, children are encouraged to become involved through both multi-level school teams and intra-house sporting tournaments.  Sports are valued for the physical and mental health benefits, helping to foster a thriving student body that excels both inside and outside of the classroom.

Last week BGS held their official opening of their new synthetic turf pitch manufactured by Act Global.  The men’s rugby team celebrated the opening with a scrimmage and mini-tournament to break in the new turf.  Verde Recreo Ltd. designed and built the new field to meet both World Rugby Reg 22 and FIFA accreditation requirements.  The 3G artificial grass field is an elite surface that is specifically engineered for intense and high impact play to keep the BGS rugby athletes safe.  Due to the nature of rugby as a multi-season sport, Act Global’s high-quality synthetic grass is a perfect surface solution to withstand all weather and climatic conditions so that the team can play more hours a week and more days out of the year.

Color Control: Preserve the Integrity of Your Vivid Field

TroyBaseball_Prograss (2)A synthetic turf field is an investment in your team.  An artificial grass system allows athletes to play longer and is engineered to offer specific safety benefits while withstanding heavy use and all types of weather.  However, not all synthetic turf is created equal.  High use and heavy UV exposure can cause lower quality products to degrade over time, causing breaking and splitting of the “grass” fibers, fading color, reduced strength, and overall poor performance.  Act Global turf is crafted to overcome these deficiencies with maximum UV protection, proven and tested to defy the hottest and driest climates in the world.

UV-infograph-blog (1)With installations covering six continents and more than 80 countries across the world, Act Global turf has been exposed to climates with the highest UV concentrations.  In addition to the extensive number of references, over 100 laboratory tests have proven the performance of Act Global synthetic turf to exceed industry standards.  In a climate test designed to assess tensile strength, Act Global turf underwent artificial weathering and 3,000 hours of UVA/UVB exposure.  UVB, a harsher ray than UVA, is not required for industry testing.  The results revealed both the monofilament and SPC fibers were almost a 100% more resilient in color and tensile retention-exceeding industry standards for FIFA, IRB, STC, FIH, and EN 15330-1.  The fibers also had less color change than what is required by the FIFA standard.  Seven popular yarns colors in addition to green have passed climate testing to achieve lasting durability, performance and color stability in all climates.

These tests prove that in addition to the functional and safety benefits of Act Global synthetic turf, you can be assured that our artificial grass will remain vibrant and colorful for the lifetime of the field.  Act Global turf is engineered with UV protection to ensure that every line marking, logo, and end zone remains vivid and genuine.
