Brazil’s Marta, Formiga break records in Brazil win at Montreal
History was made on Xtreme Turf at Montreal Olympic Stadium June 9, as two records were set in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Korea Republic in the first round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015.
Brazil’s Marta became the leading goalscorer in Women’s World Cup Cup history at 15 goals, with a powerful second-half penalty. She has scored 92 goals in 93 matches for her country, and is a five time Women’s World Player of the Year Winner.
Teammate Formiga became the oldest goalscorer in the tournament’s history, at age 37, with her first-half opener in her sixth World Cup appearance.

Brazil currently sits top of Group E after first round of fixtures. We will see Brazil against Spain on June 13 again playing on Xtreme Turf at Montreal Olympic Stadium.
